One of the most mysterious vari-mu compressors of all time, the much-lauded modded ALTEC 436C was used on a daily basis in the hottest studio throughout the Swinging Sixties when tracking brass, guitar, Mellotron, piano, sitar, strings, and woodwind for a certain world-conquering fabulous foursome from Liverpool. Indeed, it set a gold standard for modern instrument recording right up to the present day.

LANE Type 436 to a whole new level, adapting it to the modern needs of studio recording. Realizing that design also involved including three tubes — namely, a NOS 6H5P, a JJ E88CC, and a NOS 6AL5 — to match the original, all working in perfect harmony with custom-made input and output LANG Electronics Inc. transformers designed by Heritage Audio®. ATTACK (selectable, stepped — six settings) and RECOVERY (selectable, stepped — six settings, plus HOLD) controls are key to its working like magic to track any instrument, while its 2U steel rack-mount chassis also comfortably accommodates an INPUT and OUTPUT on (custom-wound) transformer-balanced XLR and TRS connections. And a worldwide internal power supply sees P.LANE Type 436 setting out its stall as an ALL TUBE VARIMU COMPRESSOR that is musically match fit for today.
