EDINBURGH, UK: The Crow Hill Company is proud to announce availability of TINA GUO – STORM CELLO — closely collaborating with virtuoso cellist, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and entrepreneur Tina Guo, one of the most recorded solo cellists of all time in film, TV, and game soundtracks, who teamed up with multi-talented composer and producer Steve Mazarro to create her first sample instrument supervised entirely by herself according to the needs of ‘AAA-list’ composers with whom she has worked during the last decade, before turning to the music-making community tools-maker to help them storm over the finish line with what brings to the musical masses the seriously sought-after and undeniably unique sonic capabilities of her electric cello that has graced so many iconic scores in recent times — as of January 29…
As a GRAMMY and BRIT Female Artist of the Year nominee, Tina Guo herself hardly needs much more in the way of introduction. It would perhaps be remiss not to mention
recent projects (both on and off the big screen) that include Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (2023), Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (2024), Dragon Age: The Veilguard (2024), Dune: Part One (2021), Dune: Part Two (2024), Gran Turismo (2023), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022) — not forgetting, of course, that she co-composed ‘Wonder Woman Main Theme’ with long-time friend and collaborator Hans Zimmer. Duly dedicating his life to creating music and soundscapes using synthesizers together with orchestral sounds, the so-called godfather of orchestral sampling has over 150 big screen credits to his notable name, including a sizeable slice of the biggest blockbusters witnessed worldwide, as well as associated sellout arena tours on the grandest of scales — with none other than Tina Guo joining him onstage.
TIME TO REWRITE THE CELLO PLAYBOOK is how The Crow Hill Company chooses to best support the TINA GUO – STORM CELLO sample instrument with well-chosen words that could conceivably change musical lives. By bringing Tina Guo’s approach to blockbuster recordings into anyone’s work with TINA GUO – STORM CELLO, the resultant meeting of minds collaboratively combines traditional electric cello multi-samples with articulations that will make users of the sample instrument in question feel like Tina Guo is interpreting their music live while they are composing. It is an electrifying cello library that offers an ability to produce and process the raw performances, switch on Tina Guo’s custom pedal board, and access a host of new sound-shaping functionality — dreamt up by the virtuoso cellist herself, co-producer Steve Mazarro, and the award-winning developers, producers, and composers at The Crow Hill Company’s Scottish sound HQ — housed in a new and unique working environment worthy of carrying the music-making community tools-maker’s mark of excellence and innovation in the process of doing so.
It is worth highlighting here some notable features found on TINA GUO – STORM CELLO’s gorgeous GUI (Graphical User Interface): FORM — blends the original ‘captured’ signal with a secondary layer of global processing of all sounds with six fixed ‘styles’ to choose from; SIGNAL — offers control over the blend between the DI (Direct Input) and an acoustically captured signal; SPACE — controls the mix of the virtual space (as selected and tweaked in the effects pane); TECHNIQUES — opens and closes the technique selection browser to access different styles of playing, from simple short and long articulations all the way to stylistic choices that are unique to Tina Guo; and TEXTURES — opens and closes the textures selection browser to access unique soundscapes and fragments of performances, with an additional nine layers of custom and controllable sound design created by Steve Mazarro.
Musically speaking, a workflow was established from the outset, working its way into this trailblazing interface. Indeed, describing this workflow effectively describes the way in which the TINA GUO – STORM CELLO sample instrument works and how to use it. Initially, Tina Guo and Steve Mazarro worked together to painstakingly capture not only a series of samples per se but rather notes imagined as part of a performance idiomatic of her seriously sought-after and undeniably unique electric cello performances. Then this signal was processed through a series of custom pedal boards that can be dialed into the sound produced by each of those techniques using the FORM control. Moreover, more in-depth control can be achieved by utilizing the TEXTURES mixer page, available for all texture-based techniques. The core techniques were all assigned to a dedicated key — to key-switch to and from live, through real-time left-hand performance — or by using technique switches triggered by a piano roll within a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). As a series of TEXTURES have also been created by Steve Mazarro, making use of a multitude of rarefied vintage and digital outboard gear, the resulting texture design abilities are unique to TINA GUO – STORM CELLO, allowing users to create entire sound worlds out of Tina Guo’s unique and iconic performances. And as if all that was not enough to be getting on with, this combination of ‘live’ performances, FORM signals, and TEXTURES then terminates at a comprehensive FX (effects) rack that includes an onboard granular re-synthesiser (GRAINS), gate step sequencer (GATE STEPPER), and a MASTER bus featuring a DOUBLE function that duplicates Tina Guo’s performance for added size and width of signal.
Says composer Christian Henson, who founded The Crow Hill Company on the back of primarily working on television and film soundtracks, so clearly knows what he is talking about: “By coming together with Crow Hill, we hope we have matched Tina and Steve’s enthusiasm to create something truly exceptional, unique, inspiring, and versatile — tailor-made to the incredible demands made on professional composers and music makers working in the trade today.” That said, he happily gives credit where credit is ultimately due when closing with, “We would like to offer our humblest thanks to Hans Zimmer for bringing Tina, Steve, and everyone at Crow Hill together and making this entire project possible.”
Featuring 19 core orchestral TECHNIQUES (devised and performed by Tina Guo on her electric cello) and 23 experimental TEXTURES (including a nine-layer sound design mixer crafted by Steve Mazzaro), TINA GUO – STORM CELLO is available to purchase for a time-limited introductory promo price of £129.00 GBP until February 28, 2025 — rising thereafter to a RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of £179.00 GBP — as an AAX-, AU-, VST-, and VST3-format-compatible sample-based virtual instrument plug-in — comprising over 60 GB of uncompressed material (compressed losslessly to 32 GB) that loads into any DAW — directly from The Crow Hill Company here: https://thecrowhillcompany.com/tina-guo-storm-cello/

Wield the expressive sounds of classic Bollywood strings and authentic Indian classical instruments
BERLIN, GERMANY, January 28, 2025 — Orchestral Tools announces Svara, a vivid orchestral collection inspired by the scores of classic Bollywood films. Svara consists of a potent mix of authentic Bollywood strings and a curated collection of more than 30 classic Indian instruments to provide a rich tapestry of dramatic sonic potential within the modern scoring context. The mix of familiar instrumentation with uniquely Indian timbres and playing styles captures the evocative collision between tradition and modernity that has defined the sonic output of Bollywood and inspired composers the world over. Svara is available now for an introductory price of 249 EUR. For more information and to purchase, please click here.
An authentic tapestry of musical expressiveness
Svara is the authentic representation of the sounds and playing styles of classic Indian film scoring with a modern sonic footprint. The Orchestral Tools team – working alongside long-time collaborator Richard Harvey, as well as Harvey’s preferred sound engineer Alex Lamy and South Asian composer and music director Albin Dominic – traveled to Studio Uno in Chennai, India and drew upon an experienced pool of local musicians to capture the accurate sound and feel of the region. These players provided a rich tapestry of nuance in the sounds and performances that encapsulate both the classical traditions of these instruments as well as the contemporary context in which they are used in film scoring.
At its heart, Svara includes an expressively playable full string section with a solo violin, a 10-piece violin ensemble, and a 6-piece viola ensemble built upon the signature playing styles and articulations of Indian musicians. This includes unique legato sounds, sustains, and percussive techniques not found in traditional western orchestras as well as identifiable ornaments and phrases unique to the Indian musical tradition. A rich solo violin is also available for expressive lead playing. Accompanying the string section is a full collection of authentic Indian instruments including the Bansuri (bamboo flute), Santoor (hammered dulcimer), and Tanpura (drone instrument) as well as more familiar sounds like the Harmonium. Also included are a wide array of percussion instruments, including the Khol, Mridangam, Dhol, Dholak, Ghatam, Udu and Duff. Each percussion instrument comes with Single Hits articulation. All of them, except for the Tambourines, include Loops recorded in various BPM speeds and time signatures, offering diverse rhythmic ideas. All of these sounds are available in up to 7 mixable mic positions and have been captured at the highest quality for integration alongside any existing Orchestral Tools collection..

Leeds, United Kingdom, January 21, 2025 — Rhodes Music, at the forefront of heritage and innovation, announces the MIDI MK8, a powerful MIDI system for its acclaimed MK8 electromechanical piano. This fully integrated, touchless solution further expands the modern capabilities of the iconic instrument, empowering forward-thinking musicians and producers with advanced recording and performance features — both on stage and in the studio.A New Era of MIDI Expression
At the core of the MIDI MK8 is Rhodes’ proprietary MIDI sensing technology, which ensures zero interference with the feel of the MK8’s Steinway-designed Kluge keybed. This innovative system transforms the MK8 into a versatile MIDI controller while preserving its renowned touch and playability. Users can harness the MIDI MK8 to control virtual instruments and parameters within their DAW or MIDI-compatible hardware. Whether layering the Rhodes sound with a synth pad or using the MK8’s onboard effect knobs to adjust the cutoff filter of a hardware synth, the MIDI system unlocks new creative possibilities for performance and recording.
“After two years of painstaking research and development, we’re proud to present a first-in-class MIDI system that seamlessly integrates with the Rhodes MK8 piano,” said Dan Goldman, Product Manager at Rhodes. “We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure we deliver a fully optimized, noise-free solution that enhances the Rhodes experience while preserving the piano’s signature touch and feel.”
One of the standout features of the MIDI MK8 is its support for polyphonic aftertouch, a capability that provides unparalleled expressive control. This advanced functionality allows musicians to shape dynamics, modulation, and other parameters independently for each note, creating nuanced performances that respond directly to their touch. By combining these cutting-edge features with the iconic design of the MK8, Rhodes delivers an instrument that bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern music technology.
“This is our own system, developed in-house in collaboration with industry experts and fully integrated with our piano,” Goldman added. “Just like the MK8’s effects, it’s optimized for the Rhodes by Rhodes, preserving the signature experience while offering unmatched versatility for musicians. With the inclusion of advanced features like high-resolution polyphonic aftertouch, the MIDI MK8 represents a major leap forward in MIDI technology.”
While the MK8, as an electromechanical piano, cannot generate sound from incoming MIDI data, it can receive MIDI information to control its onboard parameters. For instance, musicians and producers can program automation data in a DAW — such as adjusting effects like chorus or delay — and send it to the MK8, allowing its effects to shift dynamically in real time during a performance. This innovative integration positions the MK8 as a central hub for managing its own sound and effects, offering creative versatility for both studio and live use.
Key Features of the MIDI MK8:

The 32Classic Mix Strip MS brings the legendary Harrison sound of the iconic 3232 consoles—used on classic recordings by Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, and many more—into a compact 1RU channel strip
Nashville, TN, January 21, 2025 — Harrison Audio announces the launch of its 32Classic Mix Strip (MS), a fully featured 19″, 1U channel strip based on its flagship 32Classic recording console. The 32Classic MS, which will be unveiled at the Harrison Press Conference to be held at The NAMM Show 2025 (booth 18301) on 23rd Jan 10:15 am, combines the legendary Harrison sound with innovative features tailored for the modern hybrid studio. The new 32Classic MS, priced at $1999.00 is shipping now and will be available for purchase at authorized retailers by the end of January.
Boasting the same design as the original 3232 and latest 32Classic console, the 32Classic MS features a premium Jensen JT-MB-CPCA transformer-coupled microphone preamp, characterful Harrison LP/HP filters with 3 dB resonant peak, and super-smooth 4-band parametric EQ. The input stage of the 32Classic MS captures the warm and rich tone that Harrison is renowned for: a full low-end, an open mid-range, and super-smooth natural highs.
Sonically, the 32Classic MS references the original Harrison 3232 console, used by artists such artists such as Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, and many others to create some of the most highly regarded and timeless music ever made. Now, for the first time, the unmistakable Harrison sound is available in 19” rack format, making the 32Classic MS an essential addition to any recording space.

Legendary input and EQ stages
The 32Classic MS includes a versatile input section, featuring dedicated Mic and Line XLR inputs on the rear panel and a front-panel input with selectable Instrument/Hi-Z and Mic options. The mic input features utilities such as 48V phantom power, a -20 dB pad, phase flip, and a tri-color LED meter. There are independent gain controls on both the Mic and Line inputs, ensuring precise adjustments and superior performance.
A defining feature of classic Harrison recordings is the high-performance transformer-coupled microphone preamp. The 32Classic MS mic preamp offers 70 dB of clean gain to deliver and the warm, rich tone that Harrison is famous for. Sonically, this translates to a full low-end, open mid-range, and super-smooth natural highs, thanks to the Jensen JT-MB-CPCA transformer. The transformer’s gentle roll-off at each end of the frequency spectrum and delicate phase shift results in a remarkably sweet and musical sound, making it ideal for virtually any source material.
The 32Classic MS brings the iconic 4-band parametric EQ from the 32Classic console to a 19” rack format for the first time. Originally crafted in the 1970s – an era where you had to just get it ‘right’ on the way in – its frequency bands and proportional Q design were painstakingly developed to offer both broad, musical curves and precise sculpting to get the best from any source material or recording scenario. Trusted by legendary engineers like Bruce Swedien and Roger Nichols for its power, and featured in renowned studios like The Village and Westlake Studios, LA, and LSI Studios, Nashville for its flexibility. The 32Classic MS adds one of the most sought-after EQs to your toolkit.

Legendary Harrison filters
As featured in the original 3232 and the new 32Classic console, 32Classic MS’s Low Pass and High Pass filters offer a musical 12 dB/octave slope. The High Pass Filter, ranging from 25 Hz to 3.1 kHz, includes a characterful 3 dB resonant peak, while the Low Pass Filter spans 160 Hz to 20 kHz—ideal for eliminating rumble or smoothing high frequencies. The real Harrison magic starts when used in combination with the EQ section to tighten the low end and ‘bloom’ the top end without it ever sounding harsh or brittle.
Integrated summing bus
Combining Harrisons ‘classic sound with innovative features for the modern studio, the architecture of the 32Classic MS’s integrated mix bus allows users to cascade outputs from multiple units to be ‘summed’ together via rear panel connectors and jumper cables. Output signals can be balanced using the Fader control and Pan controls, or engage the 0 dB Fader Bypass and record at unity gain. Perfect for hybrid workflows, mobile rigs, or tracking rooms, the 32Classic MS’s integrated mixbus brings exceptional flexibility to any size setup.

A modular Harrison console for your studio
Several 32Classic MSs can be chained together via the rear mixbus connectors to build your very own modular Harrison stereo summing mixer, ideal as a studio centerpiece or for enhancing any mixing and/or tracking workflow as a “sidecar” to any existing setup. Using multiple 32Classic MSs in this way presents a perfect solution for drum or instrument buses, adding the signature Harrison sound to your sonic palette for any recording or mixing application.

MADRID, SPAIN: already available as a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) plug-in for any i73® PRO family products, vintage-sounding recording equipment developer Heritage Audio is proud to announce availability of HA1200 TapeSat as a native plug-in based on a truly one-of-a-kind tape recorder — meticulously modelled after an original 16-channel Ampex MM-1200 unit (Serial # 0232) owned by company CEO Peter Rodríguez, bought back when he was only 19 years old and still used as his main tape recorder to this day — to provide the sought-after true analogue sound of tape, allowing anyone to add punch, warmth, and depth to their vocals, synths, guitars, and more, as of January 20…
Truth be told, after Peter Rodríguez discovered just how good a professional reel-to-reel recorder actually sounded, there was no turning back; for his own recordings finally sounded like many of his favorite albums from previous decades. Thanks to HA1200 TapeSat, that special je ne sais quoi attributed to the ‘golden era’ of recording is now even easier to achieve than ever before. After all, analogue tape provides smoothing results to any sound that is recorded onto it, and HA1200 TapeSat produces the presence, glue effect, and low-end punch that is characteristic of genuine tape.
There are actually only five self-explanatory (virtual) knobs — namely, INPUT, SPEED, TAPE (selector), LEVEL, and OUTPUT — to HA1200 TapeSat’s notable name. Needless to say, the TAPE knob allows users to choose from five different choices modelled after various NOS (New Old Stock) tapes — namely, 250 (for a musical and warm saturation), 456 (for an enhanced transient articulation), 499 (for a clear and more natural tone), 911 (for a highlighted high end and boosted bass), and GP9 (for a sharper midrange), making for a simple, yet powerful tool with endless saturation possibilities.
Put it this way: with HA1200 TapeSat’s timely arrival, the most faithful representation of this classic 2-inch multitrack tape-recording technology is finally here as a unique piece of analogue history modelled for posterity the Heritage Audio way.
With that all being said, Heritage Audio’s goal with this native plug-in is to create a tool to channel creativity and put the focus firmly back on music production, which is exactly why the vintage-sounding recording equipment developer wants to reach as many users as possible by applying a pricing scheme that is both comprehensive and fair. For instance, the native version of the HA1200 TapeSat plug-in is available for free to owners of any i73® PRO family products — offering varying I/O and features as the first ever USB-C audio interfaces with built-in Class A 73-style preamps — by being automatically added to their plug-in collection (here: https://users.heritageaudio.com). Fortunately for everyone else, a no-nonsense price of €99.00 EUR/$99.00 USD is guaranteed.
The native version of HA1200 TapeSat is available to purchase — as a 64-bit AAX-, AU-, and VST3-format-compatible effect plug-in for MacOS (10.15.7 and higher, with both INTEL and Native Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4s compatibility) and Windows (10 and 11) — directly from Heritage Audio here: https://users.heritageaudio.com/product/ha-1200-tape-saturator/
An iLok account is required for HA1200 TapeSat activation. (If running HA1200 TapeSat in trial mode, note that the trial will be fully functional for 14 days after activation.)
About Heritage Audio (www.heritageaudio.com)
Heritage Audio was founded in 2011 by Peter Rodriguez. As a civil engineer and music producer, he went from building wind turbines to following his true passion — developing recording equipment with the vintage sound that he himself admired so much and so many others yearned for. Fortunately for all, he was able to master the key elements necessary to make high-quality recording gear affordable and reliable by combining his analytical mindset with his experience as a producer within a relatively short space of time. Today, the 15-person team has expanded its production plant located in the heart of Madrid, Spain, where it collectively continues to follow a philosophy of making vintage sound possible for today’s studios, successfully introducing innovative products to rank amongst the most popular brands with top retailers throughout the world.

This microphone promises to be an indispensable tool for audio engineers and producers seeking massive tube sound and multiple tonal / pickup-pattern options in a single package.
Twin Mode Operation and Multiple Pickup Patterns
The UT Twin48’s two operating modes go beyond just polar pattern selection.
Classic 47 and 48-style mics each derived their cardioid operation in very different ways — producing subtle tone differences as well as a slightly different polar pattern. For the first time ever, the UT Twin48 delivers both options in a single microphone.
47 Mode offers both 47 Cardioid and Omni patterns, while 48 Mode offers 48 Cardioid and Figure-of-8. Each cardioid mode delivers a different tonal flavor and performance:
● 47 Cardioid: de-couples the rear diaphragm in a process known as True Cardioid, for a louder sound with improved sensitivity with more background and top-end detail.
● 48 Cardioid: polarizes the rear diaphragm with the same voltage as the backplate — AKA Active Cardioid — for a more tightly closed-in, warmer, intimate tone that is a bit lower in sensitivity.
Whether you prefer the open, detailed tones of the 47 Cardioid mode or the intimate warmth of the 48 Cardioid mode, you’ll capture every nuance with exceptional clarity. The UT Twin48 also includes Omni and Figure-of-8 polar patterns, further expanding its creative potential.
Massive Tube Sound
At the heart of the UT Twin48 lies a select NOS EF86 pentode glass vacuum tube, the last living descendent of the originals’ tube. It delivers a bold, rich sound, due to the pentode’s harmonic profile being much different than modern dual-triode tubes.
No Cut Corners
The UT Twin48 features the custom United UT K48 capsule, meticulously crafted to match the single backplate/dual diaphragm design with historical accuracy. Skinned in a laboratory clean-room environment and 24k gold-sputtered on 6-micron Mylar, this capsule ensures a smooth, resonance-free sound that’s free of excessive brightness or sibilance. Complementing the capsule is the UT-BV8 transformer, a US-made marvel wound to original Braunbuch specifications with high-nickel alloy laminations and a copper Faraday shield, ensuring optimal signal integrity and noise rejection.
Uncompromising Power Supply Design
Understanding that a tube microphone is only as good as its power supply, United spared no expense in crafting the UT Twin48’s discrete power unit. Featuring US-made components, discrete Zener diode regulation, and robust EMI/RFI filters, this power supply ensures clean, maintenance-free operation. The inclusion of the Sommer Octave 7 conductor cable, optimized for the Twin48, further underscores United’s commitment to delivering a superior audio experience.
It’s not just another mic — it’s a United.
United has gone to great lengths to make the UT Twin48 an exceptional microphone fit to be the showpiece of any studio, sparing no expense on premium and custom-made components: audiophile grade polystyrene, tantalum, and film capacitors; and audiophile grade, US-made PRP thin-film resistors. United also went the extra mile to reduce noise and RFI, and to ensure that the UT Twin48 provides boutique quality sound that’s built to last.
Also included is a vintage-inspired briefcase — custom-fit to house the UT Twin48 and all included accessories.
