Combining a breakthrough processor and new ARC 4 software for incredibly natural and transparent sound, and better mixes right from the start
February 22, 2024 – IK Multimedia releases ARC Studio, a unique out-of-the-box hardware acoustic room correction system that instantly upgrades traditional studio monitors with breathtaking results. There’s a reason all of today’s top-tier studio monitors include active room correction – it vastly enhances their performance and ensures that mixes translate flawlessly.
ARC Studio offers this same massive boost in performance and accuracy to any monitor in every studio. The system includes a standalone hardware processor; new ARC 4 software (also available separately) for analyzing and correcting the listening environment with additional controls; and a precision MEMS measurement microphone. For the first time in the recording industry, an affordable hardware processor can be used as a correction and calibration system for any type of studio – be it home, project or professional – without the limitations of a software-only system.
Improves Mixing Accuracy
Rooms have a big impact on how music is heard. The size, shape, materials, and furniture
all work to distort the frequency and stereo balance of studio monitors, degrading their
sound. ARC 4’s all-new algorithm analyzes and corrects these issues in minutes. The music snaps into focus with more controlled low-end, tighter transients and pinpoint stereo imaging. It’s like an instant upgrade for monitors, leading their users to mix faster and more confidently than ever.
Installs in Minutes
With the included mic connected to an audio interface, ARC 4 software guides the user through a rapid process of measuring acoustical responses within their listening position. IK’s award-winning ARC technology uses this 3D snapshot to identify and completely correct all the problematic issues degrading a monitor’s performance. ARC 4 stores the correction profile and loads it to the ARC Studio processor, sitting invisibly between the interface and monitors to apply to all incoming signals. The standalone processor corrects studio monitors in any studio, including hardware- and console-based setups.
Corrects Any Studio
For pro studios, whether DAW-based or console-based, ARC Studio with ARC 4 offers sonically transparent correction and custom-tuning for any monitoring setup from nearfields to mains, preserving the inherent system’s sonic quality. For DAW-based studios, ARC Studio eliminates the need to insert the ARC 4 plug-in on the master bus of a project and preserves zero-latency monitoring setups. Plus, it allows users to listen to their preferred streaming service with acoustically corrected monitoring without messing around with system drivers. Using ARC 4, profiles can be created and stored for every configuration, listening position or even monitor pair and quickly recalled or loaded to the processor unit at any time. Whether in a makeshift studio or a world-class one, fine-tuning the monitoring perfectly to taste is no longer a challenge and has never sounded so good.
And not only is the ARC Studio hardware designed and made in Italy to the highest precision and quality standards, but its clever engineering makes it extremely affordable and it is available at a fraction of the cost of other hardware solutions. Now everyone can dramatically improve the sound in their mixing environments: from a single pair of monitors to multiple monitoring systems, up to large facilities with multiple mixing and recording rooms.
Audiophile Performance
ARC Studio features a 120 dB(A) analog input to analog output dynamic range, 0.5 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response, and ultra-stable clocking for vanishing low jitter, offering total sonic transparency and accuracy only found in mastering-grade audio converters. The processor unit connects to the studio and monitors via balanced XLRs with a power-safe relay-based hard bypass – so when bypassed everything is protected from sudden power related pops. Between the premium audio quality of ARC Studio and ARC 4’s all-new correction algorithm, the result is the most natural, transparent monitoring ever.
Includes Monitor Emulations
ARC Studio can be reloaded instantly with new settings using ARC 4 software. ARC 4 now features a monitor emulation function that turns any monitor system into iconic studio monitors, plus popular hi-fi speakers and mobile devices, with breathtakingly true-to-life results, accurately reproducing the frequency and phase response of the originals. With over 20 profiles included in ARC 4, a single pair of monitors now lets users test a mix on different reference systems quickly, without ever having to head to the car or buy additional pairs of monitors.
System Customization
ARC 4 now comes with 9 factory-tailored target curves suitable for most situations. The default curve offers optimally balanced results with Flat and other specific curves for different needs or setups. By default, ARC corrects the entire frequency spectrum, but users can define limits to both upper and lower correction ranges separately. This is useful to preserve monitors’ unique voicing or correct a certain frequency range. There’s also a control to adjust the resolution of the correction filter to use more or fewer frequency bands. Depending on the room’s unique sound, this can achieve a more surgical correction, or a broader, smoother balance.
Selectable Natural and Linear phase modes ensure precise stereo imaging. Natural mode improves the phase response, while linear phase maintains the original inter-channel phase response, which may be preferable in certain rooms and conditions. With ARC Studio, users will experience limitless flexibility as their studios grow and evolve.

SPITFIRE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Behind award-winning composers… are world-class musicians
An all-encompassing orchestral toolkit with the addition of Percussion, Harp and Piano, at a new price
London, February 22nd, 2024 – Spitfire Audio, the world’s leading creator of sounds and high-quality sample libraries for music makers, announces the relaunch of Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (“SSO“).
Originally captured a decade ago in the state-of-the-art space of Lyndhurst Hall (also known as “The Hall”) in AIR Studios – founded by legendary producer of The Beatles and Oscar-nominated composer, Sir George Martin and known for its exceptional acoustics – and crafted by Spitfire Audio’s team of expert in-house creatives over a period of five years, SSO is recognized as the fundamental choice for the professional-tier composer and heralded by a multitude of AAA music makers worldwide.
Performed by London’s first-call orchestral players, the newly enhanced SSO sample library features a revolutionary legato programming transformation that has been created by Andrew Blaney, introducing a new level of expressiveness and realism. Composers can now attain seamless and emotive transitions between notes, skillfully capturing the subtleties of a live orchestral performance with exceptional precision.
In addition, SSO will now incorporate Percussion, Woods, Winds, Strings, Harp, and Piano. This new consolidation ensures an even richer orchestral experience, allowing composers to easily harness the power of a full symphony orchestra.
Spitfire Audio has also diligently addressed reported issues over the past few years, implementing comprehensive bug fixes to ensure optimal performance and stability. The commitment to refining the user experience underscores Spitfire Audio’s dedication to providing music makers with a reliable and inspiring toolset.
Recognizing the importance of a visually intuitive and artistically inspiring interface, the “Enhanced Edition” showcases a new and consistent Kontakt 7 UI. It offers a sleek, modern design to enhance user experience, reflecting Spitfire Audio’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries, whilst also prioritizing functionality.
Paul Thomson, Spitfire Audio’s Co-Founder, expresses his excitement about the SSO relaunch, stating, “Our aim is to not just meet but exceed the expectations of composers. With this comprehensive relaunch, we are confident that SSO will continue to be a top choice amongst the world’s most successful composers, offering a rich and immersive orchestral experience.”
One of the special aspects of Spitfire Audio’s approach is its use of unique studio spaces and unconventional locations – choosing spaces with historical significance and distinctive character (such as AIR Studios) that contribute to the authenticity and variety of the sampled instruments.
Spitfire Audio embraces the imperfections and quirks of each recording space and its sound, capturing the nuances and idiosyncrasies of the environment in which the recordings take place, and if there is any single product that encompasses the very core ethos of Spitfire Audio, it is SSO.
Thomson adds, “There’s something truly unique about the sound in AIR Studios. The players recorded on the sessions performed at the peak of their abilities and as a result, the samples are absolutely stunning. It’s a timeless experience that we are continually nurturing – we’ve reimagined the legato programming, introduced a new, better user interface, and removed bugs, all while maintaining exceptional quality, ease of use and affordability. The result is a cohesive orchestral toolkit that is even more exciting now than it was when it was created a decade ago.”

After releasing their sough-after Signature Series libraries Woodchester Piano with Bleeding Fingers composer James Everingham, and Petrichor with Dan Keen, Fracture Sounds are now releasing their third collaboration- Trails with composer and violinist Alexander Parsons.
Trails is a feature-rich library of string textures, layered synths, a rare Dulcichord tabletop piano, and granular synthesis that combines all of the samples from across the acoustic and electronic instruments found in the library. It represents the sonic palette Alexander Parsons often reaches for, preferring to start from scratch when composing a new piece of music and using the tools at his disposal to inspire his works.
The name Trails emanates from the string textures that often linger in the background of Alexander’s music. The solo
string textures play an important role in the fabrication of the library, with Parsons showcasing his talents on the violin, providing long textures and short ricochets. He invited friend and frequent collaborator Joe Zeitlin to
record the cello samples, and their ability to connect through music is prominent in the combined strings patch Fracture Sounds has provided in the library.
Alexander has also provided samples of his very rare Dulcichord. This single-stringed tabletop piano delivers brightness and clarity to the overall dark sonic world of the synths and brand-new Granular engine the team at Fracture Sounds have put together.
Overall, the library captures the essence of a sonic palette Alexander Parsons has developed over his many years as a professional composer and performer and is sure to inspire a wide range of compositions.

SHATTERFORD, UK: after stealing the show at SynthFest 2023 in Sheffield, UK on October 7, 2023 with a successful showcase soft-launch that opened eyes and ears to its maximal size and sound, British boutique electronic instruments innovator Analogue Solutions is proud to announce that it has sold out of the first batch of its Maximus AS300 — announced as a ‘filmic’ mega-polysynth produced by company founder Tom Carpenter to a design ethos that truly draws its inspiration from the dawn of analogue synths, yet is so much more than a polysynth or even a powerful analogue ‘workstation’ since it includes independent controls for each of its eight voices to provide more freedom to unleash unique styles of polyphonic sounds that traditional ‘flat-panelled’ polysynths simply cannot create, not forgetting that it is, after all, also art, architecture, and even exquisite studio furniture fabricated into a high-quality-constructed synthesiser, the likes of which surely only comes around once in a decade or, possibly, a generation — and orders for the next batch are already being directly taken for upcoming shipment slots, as of February 16…
Diminutive dimensions definitely do not apply to the main unit of the STEREO 16 VCO / 8 VOICE POLY SYNTH that is Analogue Solutions’ no-expense-spared Maximus AS300, as evidenced by its three eye-catching, snow-white-coloured, solid metal panels perfectly wrapped in a contrasting black solid hardwood enclosure measuring 947 mm (W) x 435 mm (D) x 1060 mm (H) — hence its apt naming! Needless to say, said unit packs a maximal sonic punch, which is hardly surprising since each of its eight identical voices provide the following — eye- and ear-opening — features replicated across two of those panels that literally leave nothing to the imagination: two analogue VOLTAGE CONTROLLED OSCILLATORS, tuneable using a multi-turn TUNE FREQUENCY vernier dial, plus a DETUNE control (for VCO 2), PORTAMENTO, KEY/MIDI CV (control voltage) OFF and ON switch, and generous pitch modulation options (including from external CV); audio MIXER (including external audio input and analogue — white — NOISE generator); analogue SEM-style VOLTAGE CONTROLLED MULTIMODE FILTER, featuring HIGH PASS, BAND PASS, and LOW PASS types, versatile CUT-OFF MODULATION options, plus CUTOFF and RESONANCE controls; 16-step mini-SEQUENCER offering pitch and filter cutoff sequencing and ONE-SHOT trigger mode; ENVELOPE MODULATION with dual ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) and several triggering options; VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) with VELOCITY dynamics and separate AUDIO OUT; lo-fi ECHO and delay unit; and last, but by no means least, a healthy implementation of audio and CV I/O connections.
Creativity clearly knows no bounds as those eight voices can be individually programmed since they are each essentially complex dual-VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) analogue synths in their own right. Reality dictates that they can all be programmed pretty much the same so that they each produce a similar sound — albeit not quite identical, due to their individual nature that actually adds to the overall sound character — or they can be programmed completely differently from each other to create more unusual polyphonic sounds. Speaking of which, Maximus AS300 does not have patch memories — just like the first generation of analogue polysynths, so every sound created will be unique. Ultimately, Maximus AS300 is more than capable of producing traditional ‘pads’ but it is better suited to creating unorthodox polyphonic sounds. Saying that, it also excels at unusual analogue loops and rhythms when played in a cyclic mode — setting each voice to a different type of sound results in interesting patterns when cycling through them, in other words.
Those two panels (each featuring VOICE 1, VOICE 2, VOICE 3, and VOICE 4) are complimented by a lower-positioned third, the so-called master panel, which is where global modulation (applying to all voices), global sequencer control, keyboard and MIDI setup, final audio mixing, stereo reverb, and master outputs are all dealt with via specific sections — namely, MASTER OFFSET (to control three parameters on all voices: PITCH, changes the pitch/tuning of every oscillator on all voices; DETUNE, detunes the second oscillator on every voice; and CUTOFF, changes the cutoff frequency of every voice filter); MULT (splits CV signals); LOW FREQUENCY MODULATION & EXTERNAL CONTROL (featuring three different Low Frequency Oscillators — LFO1 being differentiated from LFO2 by having a DELAY feature, for example, while LFO3 is independent and has to be patched in; GLOBAL CONTROL offers additional CV inputs for modulating those VOICE parameters, controlling all voices); MIDI & SEQUENCE CONTROL (for setting MIDI channels, controlling the mini-SEQUENCER, keyboard modes, and some I/Os for clocking and control); eight-channel STEREO VOICE MIXER (for mixing each VOICE, providing control over their levels and stereo spread via a dedicated LEVEL fader and PAN pot — so much better than the fixed relative levels and often mono signals found in other analogue polysynths); and STEREO REVERB / OUTPUT (featuring two triple-spring real-spring reverbs — the self-explanatory SPRING L and SPRING R — wired in series after the STEREO VOICE MIXER, alongside a MASTER level control for the two stereo output jacks on the rear panel and a PHONES level control for the stereo headphones jack).
And as if all that was not enough to be getting on with, Analogue Solutions also offer an accompanying AS400 TOUCH / KEYBOARD CONTROLLER. Custom designed specifically for Maximus AS300 as an optional keyboard, it includes 61 full-size, weighted keys with velocity aftertouch and a 64-pad touch controller that can also be split into 32 pads, plus some neat CV modulators. Musically, it will transmit note and velocity information via Maximus AS300’s MIDI Out connection, while the TOUCH PADS and AFTERTOUCH outputs are analogue and do not transmit MIDI.
Making (electronic) music is, of course, what this — and, indeed, Analogue Solutions itself — is all about… and all that is left to say here is: all hail Maximus!
Analogue Solutions is directly taking orders for the next batch of its Maximus AS300 STEREO 16 VCO / 8 VOICE POLY SYNTH (expected to ship at the end of November 2024) — priced at £22,500.00 GBP (excluding crate, shipping, and tax, all if applicable) — via its dedicated webpage, which also includes more in-depth information, here: https://www.analoguesolutions.com/pagemm (An accompanying AS400 TOUCH / KEYBOARD CONTROLLER is optionally available to order directly from Analogue Solutions for an additional £1,900.00 GBP.)

About Analogue Solutions (www.analoguesolutions.com)
Analogue Solutions is a UK-based boutique electronic instruments innovator that specialises in true analogue synthesizers, sequencers, and Eurorack modules. More than 25 years experience in the industry means that it was right there at the start of the Eurorack revolution — the third company to start producing modules, in fact. Furthermore, Analogue Solutions products are all hand built in England — many being tested by founder Tom Carpenter himself, who has hands-on involvement in all aspects of the company. Characterful to boot, Analogue Solutions’ innovative instruments are applauded for proudly possessing a truly vintage sound — synthesizers featuring fully-analogue audio paths with analogue LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) and EGs (Envelope Generators) are the order of the day here. Having no memories means that nothing is being made to sound sterile by CPU (Central Processing Unit) control; conversely, turning a knob directly changes the voltage or current in an actual synth circuit to audible affect. As implied by name, Analogue Solutions consistently constitutes proof of Tom Carpenter’s genuine passion for analogue synths, drawing upon his years of owning and using vintage analogue synths and drum machines that he still uses in his own music productions… alongside Analogue Solutions products, predictably. Put it this way: with its present-day music electronics for electronic musician’s mantra ringing true as always, Analogue Solutions has certainly come a long way with its boutique electronic instrument innovations!

Collection Overview

What Makes a Reference Amplifier?
A reference amplifier epitomizes sonic excellence, embodying the essence of its unique design and sound. They aren’t prototypes, but production models that were recognized as being exceptional, and then were meticulously scrutinized component by component to unlock the secrets of their sonic brilliance. These amplifiers perfectly represent the Series and are the gold standard for their model and sound, as well as for shaping the sound of potential future amplifier designs.
The Reference Cabs
Two notable reference cabs were used to capture the thick rich tone of the 4 MESA reference amps. These cabinets have been used by Randall and Doug over several decades and offer a unique “broken in” experience that’s smooth, dynamic and touch-sensitive. The King Snake combo is loaded with a Jenson Blackbird 100 Alnico for a warm, clean and singing vocal-like quality when turned up.
Doug West, the “Tone Boy”
Doug joined MESA in 1981 as a Sales/Product Specialist, swiftly earning the nickname “Tone Boy” for his collaboration with Randall Smith in R&D. With a deep passion for guitar tone and a rich history in the Bay Area music scene, Doug ensures every Boogie® product resonates with soul and excellence. He played an integral role in capturing the MESA/Boogie Tone Models and his ear, passion and insistence on “vibe and feel” were critical in the creation of the models represented in this truly unique collection.

Cherry Audio, a leading developer of music software for professional and amateur musicians, is delighted to announce the release of its first virtual drum instrument, the CR-78 drum machine. CR-78 is based on the 1978 analog rhythm box popularized by Blondie, Phil Collins, Hall & Oates, and others and brings those iconic beats and tones into the modern era with groundbreaking enhancements.
Cherry Audio’s dedication to authenticity and innovation shines through its easy-to-use three-panel user interface. CR-78 accurately replicates the familiar faceplate with all of its classic analog sounds and patterns, then elevates the experience by adding straightforward 16- or 24-step X0X-style programming for all sounds, a user-friendly song mode for pattern chaining and looping, new features like swing and velocity, and a specially curated library with over 250 additional sound and beat presets.
Cherry Audio’s CR-78 can be played standalone and includes versatile plug-in options loaded with DAW-friendly features such as auto-sync, individual outs, and complete automation. An ingenious drag-and-drop export function allows simple conversion of CR-78 patterns to DAW MIDI tracks in the plug-in version or as standard MIDI files directly to the desktop in the standalone version.
Go beyond the main panel, and CR-78’s expanded feature set far transcends the original hardware. Unlike sample-based instruments, Cherry Audio has precisely emulated the original’s tones through modeled synthesis, and a dedicated voice edit panel enables extensive instrument parameter editing for sonic and melodic possibilities that surpass what was possible with the original. The inventive effects and mixer panel furnishes discrete level, pan, and mute/solo; studio-quality overdrive, flanger, delay, and gated reverb effects with convenient effects send buttons for each instrument; and a master compressor and a six-band graphic EQ.
Cherry Audio’s CR-78 has been designed to thrill seasoned and emerging music producers by going deep inside the box to provide the ultimate outside-the-box experience. “It sounds great, and I’ll be spending a lot of time with this,” praised Greg Hawkes (keyboardist and founding member of The Cars), who provided the original CR-78 used to model this virtual instrument. “Cherry Audio has done an awesome job, and I’m proud to be a facilitator.”
CR-78 includes 250 professionally designed sound and pattern presets that take it from mild to wild, including song mode presets, instrument kits aimed at select music genres, and extraordinary melodic presets that utilize pitch tuning and effects to create harmonious accompaniment along with the beats. Even more extraordinary sounds are available in the Compu-Rhythms for CR-78 Preset Pack (sold separately), featuring 100 more presets by talented sound artists James Dyson, Huston Singletary, and Agent Method that go even further “outside of the box” using CR-78’s advanced Voice Edit, Effects, and pattern chaining techniques.
Cherry Audio is thrilled to make its first virtual drum machine instrument available at the extraordinarily low price of only $49 (list $69). The CR-78 drum machine is now available from cherryaudio.com and authorized resellers worldwide. CR-78 includes AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats for Windows (7 or above, including Windows 11) and macOS (10.13 and above), with native support for Apple Silicon. A free 30-day demo is available. Visit cherryaudio.com for additional product details, system requirements, videos, and an extensive collection of awe-inspiring sound demos.
London, February 6th, 2024 – Rising composer and multi-instrumentalist Aska Matsumiya (After Yang, Betty, Fastest Woman On Earth) joins forces with Spitfire Audio, the world’s leading creator of sounds and sample libraries for music makers, to unveil a new sample library called Crystal Bowls, in a community-driven release.
It’s a distinctive collection of instruments that captures the ethereal and resonant tones of crystal bowls, tuning forks and percussion, meticulously curated and designed to inspire composers, producers, and musicians alike.
Matsumiya, celebrated for her distinguishing musical contributions to film, television, and the wider artistic landscape, has brought her signature touch to Crystal Bowls, infusing it with a delicate balance of organic warmth and avant-garde beauty. The collaboration with Spitfire Audio marks a notable moment in the world of sound design and production.
Conversations around a potential collaboration started two years ago, when Leo Wyatt, Product Manager at Spitfire Audio, was introduced to Matsumiya via the live agency, ATC. It was during these early discussions that a vision began to take shape.
Wyatt shares, “Aska and I were introduced two years ago. She had a brilliant idea to record crystal bowls in an unconventional setting. We found a beautiful space in a contemporary chapel, for an unexpected contemporary sound, and I am thrilled to finally bring our vision to life through Crystal Bowls.”
Matsumiya adds, “I wanted to choose a space which would capture the round sound waves produced by the crystal bowl in the purest way so the soundwave wouldn’t get disrupted. Using mallets, brushes and bows gave us a wide range of unique textures that I think could be used in many different ways and genres of music and projects.”
Captured within the expansive acoustics of Round Chapel, an architecturally distinct Grade II listed chapel in the heart of Hackney in London, renowned for its unconventional shape and cast-iron columns, the recording session benefitted from a pronounced reverb.
The team skillfully recorded a combination of meditative and new-age crystal bowls along with tuning forks, utilizing a variety of traditional mallets as well as a selection of modern drumsticks and brushes. This innovative approach in the unique acoustic setting broadened the sonic capabilities of the instrument, moving beyond the conventional realm of prolonged, resonant tones to include more percussive and short sounds. This expansion in playing styles will enable users of all proficiency levels to seamlessly transition between these diverse sound characteristics.
Crystal bowls, typically associated with new age, meditative, or healing music, have often been considered functional in nature. “The intense vibrations and physical reactions to their sound feels like a magical cross between a synthesizer and an other-worldly instrument” says Matsumiya. The focus of the Crystal Bowls collaboration was to embody distinctive sounds, allowing individuals to incorporate these unconventional and contemporary tones into compositional contexts. With a sound closely resembling a raw sine wave, the virtual instrument possesses a unique character, easily adaptable into any shape.
LISTEN TO DEMOS BELOW:
Having already used crystal bowl sounds to score films and for sound installations, and always looking for and exploring different ways to create and process sounds, Matsumiya hopes that the wide range of individual audio textures in Crystal Bowls will provide music makers with the tools to write atmospheric and ethereal music for all genres and outlets.
Matsumiya traces this experimental approach to music to her teenage years, when she dropped out of art school to go touring with punk bands; “I found freedom in punk because I didn’t realise how much I felt suppressed by classical music – even though I love it.” This renegade approach would imbue Matsumiya with the freedom to go beyond the formal constraints of classical music. Today, Matsumiya comfortably embraces the challenge of pushing beyond traditional boundaries, explaining, “My creative process is always changing as there’s just no rules or set ways and that’s why I feel infinite freedom in the space of creating and making music.”
Offered in an elegant and user-friendly interface that empowers music makers to explore and shape the sounds with ease, and intuitive controls to ensure that both seasoned professionals and newcomers can unlock the full potential of the sample library, the result is an ever-evolving virtual instrument that not only showcases exceptional sound quality but also embodies Matsumiya’s vibrant creative spirit.
Wyatt concludes, “This collaboration showcases the incredible talent within our community. The release exemplifies our commitment to pushing the boundaries in sound and space, and to provide music makers with tools that ignite their creativity. We hope you enjoy it!”
