Let’s start at the beginning or even before that. The prehistoric audio world consisted of behemoths that roamed the earth living in recording studios famous for bringing us the classic music we are still enjoying today.
I was fortunate enough to be able to work in some of these classic styled studios and the sounds and experience were a big part in shaping my life as an arranger, musician and producer. So many times we forget the amazing things that we enjoy today were forged in a very different era that preceded us.

Album assembly

I am very fortunate to be a true child of the 80’s. I grew up when they lined up around the theaters to see the original Star Wars. In fact our entire school saw it on the big screen on a field trip (how cool is that?). I was also born during the explosive time of innovation in the area of electronic music and synthesizers in particular. I remember the first time playing an original MemoryMOOG when it was first introduced and it was amazing to hear those sounds for the first time. I also loved visiting the keyboard rooms where rows and stacks of keyboards were NEW and not vintage and having the opportunity of playing Jupiter 8s, MOOG Taurus Pedals, the DX7 and on and on. So now fast forward to 2017 and a new generation can now experience some of the wonder I knew back then.

Computer music has come a long way from the days where sounds were recorded on racks of tape and optical discs triggered from a keyboard. We went from there to the age of the digital sampler where small amounts of audio data were stored on floppy discs and computer memory was a rare and costly commodity. Today we are blessed with seemingly unlimited disc storage into the terabytes and computer memory is such that having upwards of 16 and 32 gigabytes is more of the norm rather than an impossibility. This means more storage space is available to store more and longer sound samples allowing us to create more realistic and expressive instruments; but things are starting to shift into an almost forgotten but very powerful and exciting direction.
