Upgrade to the Future with Nuendo 14

Steinberg releases the latest version of Nuendo, which sets a new standard in audio post-production and game audio, opening up a new era of workflow convenience.

Steinberg LogoHAMBURG, Germany — Steinberg has today announced the immediate availability of Nuendo 14, with many new tools for mixing, editing, and game audio, plus significant enhancements that further expedite the user’s workflow.

Nuendo is the preferred choice of professionals in film, TV, game audio, and immersive sound worldwide. Since its initial launch, Nuendo has been an essential tool in crafting the soundtracks for numerous high-profile productions, products, and installations. With its latest version, Nuendo establishes a new benchmark in audio post-production and game audio, introducing a powerful automated mixing assistant, enhanced AI-powered dialog transcription, sound effects preview, and around 30 more enhancements.

Powerful mixing
Version 14 provides powerful tools during the mixing stage. Adaptive Background Attenuation (ABA) by Fraunhofer IIS is one of the major highlights in Nuendo 14. ABA allows the balance of a mix to be automated, ensuring dialog is always intelligible. Using the dialog stem as a reference, ABA automatically attenuates loud background sounds to a minimum margin that can be defined by the user, ensuring the foreground sound is always clear. At the same time full control is still maintained over the overall mix, allowing the user to review changes and adjust levels. ABA is also available within the MPEG-H Renderer when creating MPEG-H content. “With ABA, Nuendo 14 users get an intelligent tool that saves time, reduces costs, and ensures consistently clear dialog — effortlessly and while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing mix. It seamlessly integrates into existing mixing workflows, allowing users to manually adjust the written automation curve after processing. In addition to the native implementation, ABA is also available for MPEG-H Audio production,” says Harald Fuchs, MPEG-H Audio Product Manager and Head of the Media Systems and Applications Department at Fraunhofer IIS.

Steinberg NUENDO 14 - ABA

With the new Volume plug-in in Nuendo 14, users can mix the volume of any track independently of the fader, allowing individual level adjustments for each sub-channel to be made, and much more. Version 14 now supports up to fourth-order Ambisonics channels, and its Dolby Atmos Renderer now supports Stereo Direct, 7.1.2, 9.1.4, and 9.1.6 formats. Manual adjustments to the trim settings of Stereo Direct and 5.1.4 projects are now possible from within the Dolby Atmos ADM Trim and Downmix Editor. Additional mixing enhancements have been made to the MixConsole which can now be fully displayed in the Lower Zone, also allowing tracks to be rearranged directly from there.

Steinberg NUENDO 14 - Volume MASTER

AI-assisted editing and transcription
Nuendo 14 includes advanced editing and transcription features that are supported by the
latest AI technologies. The new AI-powered speech to text feature allows dialog tracks to be transcribed into ADR cycle markers. By writing the transcription of the original soundtrack into existing markers, or creating new markers with the transcribed dialog inside, this can save hours of work. The newly introduced Event Volume Curves are a quick and flexible way to adjust levels within audio events, without having to switch tools. They offer a streamlined method of optimizing the editing workflow for dialog clips and sound effects. Nuendo can now auto-detect audio segments which it recognizes as belonging together by pressing a modifier key. The segments can then be selected using the Range tool and their volume adjusted using the new Event Volume Curves functionality. The improved Range Selection tool speeds up the audio editing process, adding flexible visualization and specific editing functions to selected regions via key commands or modifier keys.

Game audio and sound design
Nuendo 14 includes the latest tools for sound design as well as delivering seamless interconnectivity with game audio engines. Game Audio Connect 3 allows sound designers to preview sound effects directly from Audiokinetic Wwise, letting adjustments be made before rendering the assets and transferring them. Different sounds can also easily be tried out while playing the game.

Steinberg NUENDO 14 - CSV Import

Screenshot

With Nuendo 14, CSV files can now be imported without timecode information. Nuendo will automatically assign the markers to the project window, allowing the user to set up the placement within the timeline. Also, sound effects in the MediaBay can now be previewed at different pitches and time-stretched speeds to match the project.

Users of Nuendo 14 users can choose between new effects plug-ins such as Shimmer, Underwater, StudioDelay, and AutoFilter. Nuendo 14 features new Modulators, which deliver parameter-based automated sound variations, but with complete control over the results. They can create movement, add tension and atmosphere to game sound design through dynamic parameter control, which is based on material within the project.

Steinberg NUENDO 14 - Effects Studio Delay

There’s more to discover
Nuendo 14 includes an array of enhancements across the entire application. With its video engine update, Nuendo now supports 4K and 8K resolutions, as well as scaling higher resolutions within the video window. Speaking of which, a further improvement made to the video window now displays any attribute available for ADR sessions.

MOOG / UJAM - VOX Humana - Featured

UJAM and Bob Moog Foundation Partner to Launch Vox Humana Plugin

A Faithful Recreation of the Polymoog’s Iconic Sound, with All Proceeds Supporting the Bob Moog Foundation’s Educational and Preservation Efforts.

Asheville, NC, March 18, 2025 — UJAM and the Bob Moog Foundation have partnered to release the Vox Humana plugin, a standalone virtual instrument that faithfully recreates the Polymoog’s Vox Humana mode, regarded as one of the most recognizable synthesizer sounds, famously featured in Gary Numan’s “Cars”. One hundred percent of proceeds will support the foundation’s educational and preservation initiatives, with UJAM and its distribution partners waiving all fees to ensure every dollar directly benefits the foundation’s mission.

Bringing a Classic to Life
The Vox Humana plugin is built on the sampled sounds of the Polymoog 280A, carefully captured by composer, producer, and synth enthusiast Alex Ball. With these recordings as the basis, the Bob Moog Foundation partnered with UJAM to transform them into a fully realized virtual instrument. Utilizing UJAM’s proprietary Gorilla Engine — a platform widely used by top plugin manufacturers — the team designed an interface that is both intuitive and faithful to the instrument’s original character.

MOOG / UJAM - Vox Humana GUI

“At UJAM, we owe much of our inspiration to industry pioneers like Bob Moog,” said UJAM co-founder Peter Gorges. “His contributions to music technology have shaped my career and so many others. Supporting the Bob Moog Foundation through the Vox Humana plugin is an honor, and by waiving all fees, we’re ensuring that every dollar goes directly to advancing its mission and preserving Bob’s legacy for future generations.”

Key Features:

  • Authentic Recreation — Sampled directly from a vintage Polymoog 280A to preserve the signature Vox Humana sound
  • Four Timbral Modes – Original, Bright, Hollow, and Octaves
  • 10 Factory Presets – Ready-to-use sounds with the option to save custom user presets
  • Envelope Control – Attack and Decay sliders for precise dynamic shaping
  • Built-in Effects – Integrated Chorus, Phaser, and Delay for added depth and movement
  • Standalone Plugin – No additional software required, available as a VST3, AU and AAX plugin

Supporting a Legacy of Innovation
Bob Moog’s pioneering work in synthesis has influenced modern music for decades, inspiring musicians and instrument makers worldwide. “Bob Moog is to synthesizers what the Beatles were to music,” said Marcus Ryle, lead developer of the Vox Humana plugin and a board member at the Bob Moog Foundation. “His innovations have underpinned much of the music we know and love.”

Among Moog Music’s many contributions to music technology, the Polymoog 280A, introduced in 1978, was one of the earliest fully polyphonic synthesizers, offering musicians a selection of preset sounds that helped define the sonic landscape of the late ‘70s and beyond. Its Vox Humana preset, with its rich, vocal-like texture, became a defining sound of the era, used in electronic and pop music. Decades later, it remains highly sought after, continuing to inspire musicians and producers.

All proceeds from the plugin will directly support the Bob Moog Foundation’s mission to inspire through science education, preservation, and interactive learning. Its flagship program, Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, introduces young students to the science of sound through hands-on lessons with electronic and acoustic instruments. The Bob Moog Foundation Archives preserve over 50 years of synthesizer history, housing a vast collection of vintage instruments, schematics, prototypes, and recordings. The Moogseum, an interactive museum in Asheville, NC, continues to expand its exhibits and outreach efforts, including ongoing restoration following damage from Hurricane Helene.

“By purchasing this Vox Humana plugin, music creators can get their hands on a piece of iconic synthesizer history while also supporting the important work of the Bob Moog Foundation. It’s a chance to connect with the Moog legacy and contribute to the foundation’s efforts to inspire the next generation of musicians and innovators,” said Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation.

Availability
The Vox Humana plugin is available for $19 / 22€ as a VST3, AAX and AU plugin for Mac and Windows. For more information, visit UJAM.com.

Spitfire Audio - SWARMS Featured

Spitfire Audio announces availability of SPITFIRE SWARMS as consolidated KONTAKT PLAYER library bringing together several …SWARM releases

Spitfire Audio LogoLONDON, UK: leading sounds and sample libraries creator Spitfire Audio is proud to announce availability of SPITFIRE SWARMS as a consolidated KONTAKT PLAYER library — by bringing together the ethereal textures of HARP SWARM, the percussive choir of MARIMBA SWARM, and the chaotic beauty of MANDOLIN SWARM — as of March 13…

But before digging deeper into SPITFIRE SWARMS itself, it is worth noting that Spitfire Audio’s so-called ‘Swarms’ concept turns to Pointillism — a technique of neo-impressionist fine art developed in 1886 by French post-impressionist artist Georges Seurat, whereby the use of discrete tiny dots of pure colour become blended in the eye of the viewer with the aim of producing a greater degree of luminosity and brilliance of colour — for its inspiration. It is fair to say, then, that Spitfire Audio’s subsequent …SWARM releases musically mirror that technique to create a fuller range of tones, achieved as small discrete short notes that coalesce in the ear of the listener to give the impression of longer continuous tones, thereby unlocking gorgeous textures for sound design.

SWARMS - Harp

SPITFIRE SWARMS successfully follows suit, effectively acting as a symphony of unique textures by bringing together the ethereal elements of HARP SWARM, the percussive choir of MARIMBA SWARM, and the chaotic beauty of MANDOLIN SWARM — think shimmering cascades of nine harps, playing a range of articulations, including LONG TREMOLO SHORT TREMOLO, LONG PLUCK, SHORT PLUCK, and HARMONIC PLUCK, as well as an extensive selection of glissandi; the resonant warmth of a marimba orchestra, comprising nine marimbas performing tremolos, rolls, and hits with various sticks and other techniques; and the delicate intimacy of 18 mandolins, charangos, and ukeleles playing LONG TREMOLO, SHORT PLUCK, and MEASURED TREMOLO articulations. All benefit from user-mixable CLOSE, TREE, AMB. (Ambient), and OUT. (Outriggers) microphone positioning for complete control over the sonic perspective, everything having been originally recorded (through an array of vintage microphones via Neve ‘Montserrat’ pre-amps to a stunningly-serviced Studer 2-inch tape machine and onwards into the digital domain at 96K via Prism AD converters) by engineer extraordinaire Jake Jackson — one of the UK’s biggest names in film-score engineering and mixing — in the beautiful resonance of the hallowed (Lyndhurst) Hall at London’s legendary AIR Studios. SPITFIRE SWARMS creatively captures the natural ambience and rich detail of the unique ensembles involved as a direct result of that winning combination, creating choirs from rarely grouped instruments in the process of doing so as a consolidated KONTAKT PLAYER library.

Crafting cinematic soundscapes, intricate rhythmic patterns, or delicate melodic lines? Let SPITFIRE SWARMS provide a unique character that adds textured, humanized chaos and a natural chorus. Indeed, it is perfect for adding depth and texture to orchestral arrangements, elevating film, TV, and games scores. SPITFIRE SWARMS is ideal for composers and producers seeking fresh and original sounds, allowing anyone to dive into a world of unique textures and inspiring sonic combinations.

Says Spitfire Audio co-founder and composer Paul Thomson: “These ‘Swarms’ are incredibly useful, both when you want to play longer, slow-moving chords that have an internal movement and bubbling sound instead of using pads or traditional orchestral longs, and also when you want a percussive sound unlike anything you’ve ever heard before! Having nine harps or nine marimbas is such a unique texture to have as another invaluable tool to make your music stand out and sound different. Hearing it used to open a U2 album was the icing on the cake!”

AIR Studios Lyndhurst

And anyone suitably inspired to follow in the likes of U2’s fertile footsteps with SPITFIRE SWARMS should surely appreciate its redesigned, user-friendly UI (User Interface), allowing them to intuitively navigate and control their sound with the greatest of ease when engaging in a unique-sounding textural journey spanning epic soundscapes to more intimate tones, all the while breathing in AIR’s ambience throughout the productive proceedings.

Presented in Native Instruments’ KONTAKT 7 virtual instrument platform, the NKS (NATIVE KONTROL STANDARD®)-ready/AAX-, AU-, VST2-, and VST3-compatible, 29 GB download-sized SPITFIRE SWARMS library is available for MacOS 11, 12, or 13 (latest update) and Windows 10 or 11(latest Service Pack) at a 20%-discounted, time-limited promo price of £103.00 GBP (inc. VAT)/$127.00 USD/€119.00 EUR (inc. VAT) until March 20, 2025 — rising thereafter to its regular price of £129.00 GBP (inc. VAT)/$159.00 USD/€149.00 EUR — from here: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/spitfire-swarms

Anyone who does not already own KONTAKT 7 is invited to download KONTAKT 7 PLAYER for free; though SPITFIRE SWARMS will work with both KONTAKT 8 variations, it does not need either.

Spitfire Audio’s namesake Spitfire Audio app allows anyone to buy now and download anytime, and is available for free from here: http://www.spitfireaudio.com/info/library-manager/

Crow Hill VAULTS BODHRAN - Featured

TCHC announces availability of VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN, bringing the heartbeat of traditional Irish music to its line of free and accessible instruments

EDINBURGH, UK: music-making community tools-maker The Crow Hill Company is proud to announce availability of VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN — acting as a development of one of the world’s most ancient drum designs by bringing the heartbeat of traditional Irish music to its lengthening line of free and accessible instruments arising from company co-founder and composer Christian Henson effectively opening his ‘vaults’ for everyone to enjoy, this time turning to the artistry of Callum Convoy, one of the most sought-after bodhrán players in Scotland, to bring about the authentic sound and expressive spirit of the long-lived frame drum to which the library owes its no-nonsense name — as of February 19…

Instantly Irish-sounding by virtue of its musical roots, the bodhrán is most commonly played in solo contexts. It is shaped like a big tambourine and played on its side with a tipper or beater, while the left hand is placed on the inside of the drum to control pitch and timbre. The bodhrán propels tunes with a vibrant energy and the potential to shine in almost any genre, regardless of the instrument in question’s historically rich roots. And, as The Crow Hill Company’s accompanying artwork for VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN helpfully states, YOU PRONOUNCE IT BOR-RAN.

As an inspirational addition to its lengthening line of free and accessible instruments, The Crow Hill Company’s latest library lets anyone experiment with both simple and complex grooves of varying time signatures while also making use of its wild distortion and beautiful multi-band compression controls to twist and shape its authentic sound into something else entirely.

Enter The Crow Hill Company’s Theo Le Derf, digging a little deeper. “The library is split into two parts; the white keys all play varying accented grooves, and the black keys are all multi-samples, going from low to high,” he begins, before adding: “Both of these parts are velocity based, and the loops are time-synch’d to your DAW, so will adapt to any BPM that your project is in.”

It almost goes without saying that VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN’s GUI (Graphical User Interface) is as intuitive as always. Apart from the obvious background color change to an appropriate Emerald green, it follows a familiar pattern already established by those products previously released as part of The Crow Hill Company’s lengthening line of free and accessible instruments, though Theo Le Derf duly provides a quick guided tour: “The first large dial on SOLO BODHRÁN is called RHYTHM and it contains two grooves that you can alternate like the A- and B-side of a vinyl record — one side is more simple and the other more complex, and it is automatically assigned to MIDI CC1; DISTANCE fades between the close mics and the spot mics further away — mics used were a pair of Neumann TLM103s and a pair of Neumann KLM184s. The small dials are more concentrated effects, the first one being CRUSH, which is a really wild, fun distortion; SQUEEZE is a beautiful multi-band compressor, which really tightens up the sound; ECHO is a stereo ping-pong delay; and SPLOSH is the standard VAULTS… reverb, both of which allow you to add more ambience to the drums.”

As a working musician himself, Theo Le Derf is perfectly positioned to speculate as to what VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN’s (many) musical uses could well be: “If you’re a media composer working on a chase scene or something, it could potentially work as a backbeat to that kind of vibe; certainly the bodhrán doesn’t only shine in traditional Irish music, but can be used in anything that has a particular driving force. Indeed, it has the potential to fit into almost any genre.”

Get this, though: in The Crow Hill Company’s VAULTS… webpage’s words, FREE FOR THOSE WHO TREASURE SOUND, VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN is now available for all to download.

VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN is free for everyone — as are all VAULTS… releases from The Crow Hill Company — from here: https://thecrowhillcompany.com/vaults/

Watch Theo Le Derf’s illuminating introductory walkthrough video for VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN here:

VAULTS – SOLO BODHRÁN installation and activation requires installation of The Crow Hill App — an easy-to-use app designed by the best in the business to provide seamless download, installation, integration, calibration, and organization of The Crow Hill Company tools — available for free from here: https://thecrowhillcompany.com/crow-hill-app/

It is worth noting that each VAULTS… release will not be available to add to an account forever, however, since once a new ‘vault’ is ‘opened’ and goes live, another one is ‘closed’ and no longer available, meaning only six such instruments are available at any given time on The Crow Hill Company website. What this means for those who have already added a VAULTS… release to their account is that it is there forever and accessible through The Crow Hill App. As such, loyal fans can add a brand-new instrument to their arsenal every month, collecting and keeping them all. As each VAULTS… release will only be live for around six months, it is worth making sure that it is added to an account while it is live in order to have forever access.

Cherry Audio Korg KR-55c Featured

Cherry Audio Unveils KR-55C Drum Machine

March 11, 2025 — Cherry Audio is excited to announce the release of its latest virtual drum machine, KR-55C. This feature-rich plugin modernizes the classic “Rhythm 55” KR-55A and KR-55B drum machines from the late 70s and early 80s, blending their beloved vintage charm with contemporary flexibility and advanced sound design capabilities. Available now for just $49 (not an introductory price) from cherryaudio.com and authorized resellers worldwide, KR-55C is designed to empower musicians, producers, and beatmakers with powerful groove-building tools at an unbeatable price.

Korg introduced the original KR-55 in 1979. This drum machine featured 48 preset rhythms with intro and fill patterns and flexible, though limited, mixer controls. In 1982, Korg released the KR-55B, which boasted a sleek new design and doubled the onboard patterns. The KR-55 made waves in the music industry, with notable artists like Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget, Soft Cell, and Jean-Michel Jarre using it, and is particularly remembered for its sound in Joe Jackson’s hit song “Steppin’ Out.”

Cherry Audio Korg KR-55c - GUI 1

Cherry Audio’s KR-55C stays true to its analog predecessors by including all 240 original patterns, intros, and fills from the KR-55A and KR-55B models. Further, Cherry Audio has expanded the KR-55’s capabilities with 200 all-new rhythm and sound presets, including genre-specific instrument kits that showcase tailored sound design like never before. Whether you’re after the vintage vibes of the post-punk era or modern EDM textures, KR-55C has you covered.

Cherry Audio Korg KR-55c - GUI 4

Unlike sample-based instruments, KR-55C emulates the original tones through analog modeling. The instrument panel allows users to fine-tune each sound with settings for parametric EQ, tone, tuning, and decay. The mixer section provides per-instrument control over levels, panning, muting, soloing, and effects routing.

With its X0X-style programming interface, KR-55C makes creating and tweaking beats straightforward and intuitive, whether programming 16- or 24-step patterns in real time or using step mode. The song mode enables users to chain up to 99 patterns across 99 steps, making it easy to craft entire compositions directly within the plugin for later recall.

KR-55C also enhances production workflows with an effects panel that delivers studio-quality processing for each sound. With simple routing toggles, you can apply overdrive, flanger/chorus, delay, and reverb to individual drum elements. Additionally, a global compressor and limiter help ensure polished, professional results.

The plugin integrates seamlessly into your DAW, offering features like individual outputs for each drum sound, drag-and-drop MIDI export, and comprehensive automation capabilities for maximum flexibility in any project.

Alongside KR-55C, Cherry Audio is releasing Pattern Theory for KR-55C (available separately), a preset pack that takes KR-55C to new creative heights. Featuring 100 additional patterns across 10 additional categories, this expansion fully utilizes KR-55C’s advanced voice editing, effects, and pattern chaining to unlock even more rhythmic possibilities. This pack is available exclusively at cherryaudio.com for just $9.99, making it the perfect complement to KR-55C.

Get started with KR-55C today for the fantastic price of only $49, available from cherryaudio.com and authorized resellers worldwide. KR-55C supports AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats for Windows (7 or above, including Windows 11) and macOS (10.13 and above), with native support for Apple Silicon. A free 30-day demo is also available. Visit cherryaudio.com for additional product details, system requirements, videos, and an extensive collection of inspiring sound demos.

Spitfire Audio LogoLONDON, UK: leading sounds and sample libraries creator Spitfire Audio is proud to announce availability of The ALBIONS: Orchestral Selects — shipping as a carefully curated collection of the most inspiring and evocative ensemble patches brought together from across its acclaimed ALBION range to offer a rich tapestry of hand-picked orchestral sounds that let the individual character of the orchestra shine, supplying composers with a wide range of expressive possibilities to bring any cinematic moment to life — as of March 6…

It is fair to say that THE ALBIONS ORCHESTRAL SELECTS is testament to the power, versatility, and, indeed, longevity of the ALBION range — after all, the original ALBION, which was effectively re-released by popular demand as ALBION LEGACY in 2023, kick-started a whole range of all-in-one composer tools for cinematic inspiration, its collection of orchestral ensembles featuring strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion, as well as loops, synths, and atmospheres, all creatively captured in the beautiful resonance of the hallowed (Lyndhurst) Hall at London’s legendary AIR Studios way back in 2011.

The exceptional collection that is THE ALBIONS ORCHESTRAL SELECTS duly draws from six distinct ALBION libraries — namely, ALBION COLOSSUS, a gargantuan, all-in-one toolkit that pushes contrast, dynamism and intensity to eleven, elevating scores to breathtaking new heights in a new blockbuster era; ALBION NEO, a modern cinematic collection centred around a chamber-sized orchestra with a super-intimate string section split by divisi across all articulations to offer anyone access to the incredible definition and expression of classic and progressive techniques, accompanied by an encyclopaedic range of progressive synths, loops, and textures; ALBION TUNDRA, taking a 100-piece orchestra playing never-before-sampled techniques at the very edge of silence to capture a characteristically Scandinavian sound; ALBION ONE, a renowned, industry-standard orchestral sample library that provides everything needed to make film music, comprising a 109-piece orchestra accompanied by a thunderous cinematic percussion section, plus warp-able loops designed by award-winning engineers and an enormous steam synthesiser; ALBION ICENI, an award-winning package boasting epic low-end brass and electrifying woodwinds, harmonised with a string ensemble encompassing an extensive range of cellos and basses alongside an extraordinary collection of thick, deep synth sounds and loops as an apocalyptic low-end orchestra; ALBION LOEGRIA, an expertly sampled chamber-sized orchestra, featuring strings, woods, brass, and cinematic drums alongside eclectic loops and an inspiring organic synth as the perfect starting point for independent films, period dramas, or more cerebral and intimate music; and last, but by no means least, the aforesaid ALBION LEGACY — as a carefully curated selection of sounds designed to blend seamlessly into any scoring project.

  • The ALBIONS - Strings - 1

Painting vivid sonic landscapes to bring musical visions to life is even easier using THE ALBIONS ORCHESTRAL SELECTS’ inspiring and evocative ensemble patches… think Epic Strings, selections played by larger string ensembles including the full dynamic range of ALBION ONE’s strings and the soaring highs and powerful lows of ALBION ICENI and ALBION TUNDRA that range from delicate textures to thunderous power, providing everything needed to create truly unforgettable string passages; Intimate Strings, showcasing the nuanced detail of ALBION NEO and the emotive beauty of ALBION LOEGRIA, capturing intimacy with exceptional clarity and expression; Epic Brass, bringing together the enormous cinematic brass patches from ALBION ONE’s full brass range, the majesty of ALBION TUNDRA, and the colossal low-end of ALBION ICENI to provide the tools needed to create brass arrangements that resonate with power and emotion; Intimate Brass, a more intimate and nuanced approach to brass scoring, achieved through the focused intensity of ALBION NEO’s brass, with long and short staccatissimo articulations; Epic Woodwinds, harnessing the soaring melodies of ALBION ONE’s woodwinds, the haunting textures of ALBION TUNDRA, and the rich depths of ALBION ICENI to provide a wide range of woodwind colours and textures; Intimate Woodwinds, providing the warmth, intimacy, and nuance needed for delicate woodwind passages, courtesy of ALBION NEO; and Albion Percussion, unleashing the thunderous power of the DARWIN percussion ensemble from ALBION TUNDRA, the cinematic impact of ALBION ONE’s XXL percussion, ALBION LEGACY’s CYMBALS, and the nuanced detail of ALBION LOEGRIA’s FINE DRUMS LOOSE and FINE DRUMS TIGHT as a diverse collection providing a rhythmic foundation for any scoring project.

  • The ALBIONS - Orchestral Selects - GUI 1

Paul Thomson — company co-founder, and an accomplished composer in his own right — remains enamored with Spitfire Audio’s acclaimed ALBION range, resulting in THE ALBIONS ORCHESTRAL SELECTS, stating: “There are so many sounds in these collections that are instant cue-starters, giving you a film score sound for any genre right out of the box; for this selection, I’ve pulled out my favorite patches from the orchestral sections recorded in Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios, locking together beautifully but allowing a huge range of expression and style, so this is the perfect introduction to the ALBION series — my source of instant inspiration!”

Presented in Native Instruments’ KONTAKT 7 virtual instrument platform, the NKS (NATIVE KONTROL STANDARD®)-ready/AAX-, AU-, VST2-, and VST3-compatible, 26.3 GB download-sized THE ALBIONS ORCHESTRAL SELECTS library is available for MacOS 11, 12, or 13 (latest update) and Windows 10 or 11 (latest Service Pack) at a 20%-discounted, time-limited promo price of £119.00 GBP (inc. IK Multimedia Releases Grand Piano Y7, Adding New Sounds to the Pianoverse Virtual Instrument Collection

Plus, a free update for Pianoverse includes three new spaces to explore

for even more inspiring sound design.

Discover Pianoverse
February 27, 2025 –
IK Multimedia releases Grand Piano Y7, a unique virtual instrument based on an iconic Yamaha C7 meticulously crafted at Yamaha’s factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, in the late ’80s.

Extremely versatile, this larger-format piano offers powerful projection and tonal clarity that can command concert halls, while its nuanced expressiveness and responsive touch are perfect for recording studios.  Combined with Pianoverse’s expressive, interactive Spaces, the Y7 offers a range of dramatic, cinematic and evocative sounds.

The Grand Piano Y7 is available now, sold separately or as part of Pianoverse MAX. For current MAX owners, it is included with the Pianoverse update released today through the IK Product Manager.

Pianoverse Grand Piano Y7 - Image 2

A Perfect Pedigree
The Grand Piano Y7 was recorded at the legendary Fonoprint Studios in Bologna, Italy. Located within the walls of a 15th-century convent, the studio has been iconic for producing pop, progressive, cinematic and classical music since the ’90s. Artists like Bocelli and Morricone have worked there, and this piano serves as the studio’s resident instrument.

The recording involved DPA cardioid microphones for close miking and two beautiful Coles ribbon microphones in the Blumlein technique, ensuring a high-quality and captivating sound. The samples were recorded multiple times and integrated with the Round Robin technology for unparalleled realism. The result is a breathtaking, hyper-realistic virtual piano. Combined with the innovative cinematic effects found only in Pianoverse, the Grand Piano Y7 offers no limit to the style users can play or the mood they can set. It promises a new sonic adventure every time.

Three New Spaces
Pianoverse transports any of its 9 deeply sampled pianos to 33 sonic destinations, including three new ones, Northern Lights, Mirrors and White Loft Spaces, which were also released today. These destinations range from traditional Concert Halls and Studio Spaces to less traditional ones like a Warehouse or Vault and otherworldly cinematic environments like an Iceberg, Desert or Mars. Flexible controls are included to further shape the sounds and textures and create never-before-heard-of cinematic sounds and textures.

Beyond Accuracy and Sound
Pianoverse features a comprehensive combination of stage and studio work performance controls. To customize each piano’s sound, it offers adjustable lid position, harp resonance, pedal noise, release triggers, and even the noise of the piano mallets. All three pedals provide continuous control, including half- and, catch-pedaling and soft-pedaling, to deliver an unmatched performance experience.

Must-have Studio Processing
Pianoverse offers two distinct microphone setups for each piano, allowing users to choose between a modern or classical sound, replicating the experience of being in a professional studio. For traditional sound-shaping and mixing, the Pianoverse engine also includes a complete suite of must-have effects tools, including four compressor models, a dedicated master channel with EQ and a VCA-style compressor for final mastering polish.

Unique Creative Effects
In addition to custom-created spaces, Pianoverse features 12 Creative Effects for sound design, such as the tape modeler Reelab and IK’s acclaimed Convomorph technology. These effects range from cinematic spatial effects to must-have studio effects and can be inserted in 3 simultaneous slots: the first slot is a parallel send effect, while the others can be used for insert effects.

Unique to Pianoverse, users will find four modulation sources-two envelopes and two LFOs-that can be assigned to any effect parameter. This gives the user endless creative possibilities: animate further, move the sound and create extreme effects when desired. Together, these features offer an arsenal of sound-sculpting tools that cannot be found in any other piano instrument.

A Series of 9 Pianos
With the addition of the Grand Piano Y7, Pianoverse now boosts 9 world-class pianos, each based on a state-of-the-art instrument: a Yamaha C7, a Bösendorfer 214 Vienna Concert, a Koch & Korselt Upright Grand, a Steinway & Sons Hamburg D-274, a Fazioli F278 Concert Grand, a Yamaha CFIII Concert Grand, a Yamaha U5 Professional Upright, a Bösendorfer 280 Vienna Concert and a Steinway & Sons New York D-274.

Options, Pricing and Availability
Pianoverse Grand Piano Y7 is available now. It can be purchased separately or as part of Pianoverse MAX from the IK Multimedia online store and worldwide. It’s free to current Pianoverse MAX owners.
