I was fortunate to already receive my pair and have been very impressed. For the size and functionality it is amazing how they packed in all of the technology and sound into such a small package.
Hold on I did not discover a new shrinking laser device but IK Multimedia has come up with the next best thing. The great thing about technology is that when there is a discovery in one area it usually mean there will be aftershocks across many others. So is the case with the latest app release from IK Multimedia SampleTank 2 for iOS. (more…)
Coming on the heels of the iRig Keys Mini I was pleased to receive the iRig Pads controller to take for a spin. While a keyboard controller will work in most performance and composing situations there are times you might need a different way to capture your ideas. This is where the iRig Pads come in. (more…)
It seems everywhere you look there are new orchestral sample libraries and instruments being introduced. The sheer abundance of choices can be overwhelming. IK Multimedia with their introduction of Miroslav Philharmonik 2 has made this task a little bit easier. (more…)
We sometimes take for granted that we can carry an entire music studio around with us in our pocket. It is so easy to forget the days of hauling around the Rhodes suitcase and “real” CP-70s, small video monitors (the ones with the large and heavy tubes protruding out of them). If you were lucky your computer had a whopping 1 megabyte of memory and who can forget the floppy disk? Now fast forward to the present day. (more…)
Steven Slate has been known for producing dynamic mixes. He teams up with Fabrice Gabriel to bring us an exciting and groundbreaking mastering tool. Could this be the beginning of a new chapter in “The Loudness Wars”?
What’s Loud Got To Do With It
If you have worked with recording and mixing music in any fashion over the past decade you are familiar with what many call “The Loudness Wars”. The effects of it are everywhere from your living room, car and even when you are picking up your favorite snacks and supplies at the groceries it seems everyone wants to be heard above everyone else in this audibly crowded world we live in.
Well once in a while I get surprised by a product. I do a lot of playing on the road using the iPad for a track playback device. At every venue it seems there is a different way to connect the iPad to the house sound system so at times you were not sure what you were going to have. On a recent concert the sound company had an interesting box on the piano and this was the beginning of my discovery of the LSP-1.

The sweet sounds of the past have always been a sought after but elusive promise. Many of today’s hardware and software manufacturers seek to provide us with instruments that bring back that vintage sound in hopes of creating those special emotions captured in the classic recordings of days gone by.
Applied Acoustics Systems has pioneered this effort to create playable and convincing virtual instruments that blur the line between what is real and what is virtual. Their latest project embodies the best of what technology has to offer in the form of Lounge Lizard.
OUT OF THE BOX
Well I could not wait to open the box that was just delivered. Today is the day I get to do a hands on with IK Multimedia’s entry into the portable Bluetooth speaker market the iLoud The box contained the iLoud itself, power adapter, TRRS 3.5mm connector cord, quick start manual along with a product registration card.
